Volume under Settings, System Settings

I have just purchases a Clip+. Great device, just a bit disappointed by low volume. Then I checked the manual and noticed I can, under Settings, System Settings, change volume from normal to high - great I thought. However, my machine does not have the “Volume” option. Why not? (Oh, and I checked the firmware and I am good to go)
