Unable to downgrade below 1.32.00A

I started reading around and found that my most annoying feature about the fuze+ was the sluggish menu response which seemed to popup after 1.29.03.  So I downloaded 1.27.02 and attempted to downgrade the firmware.

In the past, Sansa players have always been able to be downgraded.  Now, it seems this is no longer the case.

I followed all the manual upgrade instructions, and it looks as if the unit tries to start the downgrade, but stops after several seconds, reboots and stays at 1.32.00a.

So now it seems I’m stuck here.  I formatted the player and reset to factory defaults, but regardless of the fact, the downgrade still won’t occur.

Is there anyway this unit can be downgraded or am I now stuck at 1.32.00A.  I would like to think not, but that’s what it’s beggining to look like.

Perhaps some of the fuze+ gurus could give some suggestions.  I’d really like to downgrade until the sluggish UI bug is fixed.  I’ve never had this happen on any other firmware or device.

Any suggestion short of returning it to the store?

Thanks in advance.

Just bumping the thread and would like an official answer regarding 1.32.00A not being downgradable.

Here’s an early firmware update 01.29.03.

Good morning!

Version 01.32.00 should be the minimum build installed on the Fuze+.  For future functionality, I would strongly recommend this build as the lowest version installed.  If you haven’t upgraded to 01.32.00, it’s a great idea to go ahead and install it.

The current build, once installed, inhibits installation of the earlier build (version) firmware.  This build is different in that it cannot be rolled “back” from this minimum.  Don’t worry, it’s not a problem with your Fuze+!  It’s just an integrated part of the firmware to reduce future confusion.

Once at a minimum level, in the future, rolling back may again be possible, just forward of the current minimum level.

I hope that clears up any confusion.  I can’t wait until the next build!  Currently running the 01.32.00 build, my little Fuze+ is quite stable.

Actually, Tape, sorry to throw you under the bus, but 1.27.02 was indeed published:

However, 1.32.00 does not allow you to downgrade, it won’t work.  It stays at 1.32.00.  So while 1.27.02 is available, it is of no use to anyone who is at 1.32.00.  Those of us at 1.32.00 are stuck here until the next update.

I see that. I guess your search efforts were a bit more fruitful than mine. I’ve edited my previous post. Thanks.

No worries.  I did a very extensive google search to try and find version 17 because of the large delays experienced between the “Album” and  “Song” sub-menu’s that I am currently experiencing.

I wish Sandisk would release a 1.32.00B that simply addresses that issue.  Navigation is the most annoying thing I have about the box currently.  45 seconds or more to boot, and then 14 seconds to navigate from “albums” to “songs” to get to my playlists is a bit much.
