Contrary to what you may think, this is a user’s forum, not SanDisk Tech Support.

This however, is:

Removing VMware Player resolved the issue for me.  Cruzer ID:  SDCZ36-016G

Hi Scoot78, Tks my friend as u have saved me a lot of time and effort as I have had over the past month same problem with my 32g Cruzer n by removing HTCMonitor it fixed it in a blink of an eyelid ! You deserve a medal. !!

:smileyvery-happy:was tring from last 3 hrs its kies.uninstalles kies now happy wid pd.else gona replace it

I have the exact same problem with the Motorola phone software on Windows 8. My 16GB Cruzers don’t work unless I kill the two Motorola processes in Task Manager. My 2GB Cruzers work fine. I’m thinking all the Android phone manufacturers are sharing some code, probably supplied by Google.

OMG, I have been on several forums trying to solve this issue for somr time now.  The other talked about a launcher tool and others about pure nonsense.  I unistalled Kies (which never worked with my Galaxy Note II which was unsupported when I installed, so I used Kies Air) and plugged in my SanDisk Cruzer 32 and bam it was recongnized instantly.  Thanks to the original poster who figured this out.

I did not have Kies or other Samsung applications, however I did have HTC Sync. Once I removed it, my problems were solved. Thanks to all those who contributed.

Just wanted to say thanks for posting. I didn’t make the common connection with regards to the phone software. Mine was also the Motorola Device Manager service. Turned it off and without a reboot plugged in my 32GB Cruzer and it works perfectly.

Running Win7 Ultimate.

Thanks again… saved me many headaches.

I know this thread is about 8 months old but I found it searching for a solution to the not recognized problem. Well I didn’t find an answer here, but it did point my in the right direction and I found a solution for those who don’t have any of the “conflicting” software mentioned in the above posts. All you have to do is assign it a drive letter. Go to control panel - admin tools - comp management - storage - disk management. Find the sandisk, right click on it and assign a drive letter to it.  Should be recognized instantly. Hope this helps those peeps still having problems,

I have had the same problem with a cruzerblade 8gb on a win 7 64bit Ultimate where the system recognised the blade as a usb drive but could not read the drive saying that windows could not access it

normally i would have had to remove the usb and re-insert until eventually the system recognised it, unfortunately it stopped doing that a few days ago.

However someone mentioned to me about using HTC Sync and how it caused problems with his cruzerblade and lo and behold when i uninstalled my HTC Sync my blade worked immediately.

Don’t you thing that it is strange that all other makes of usb sticks/pen drives work on windows 7 but only the sandisk ones play up. Perhaps it is time Sandisk looked at its quality control before they completely lose the good name they once had!!!

I have Sandisk Cruzer Edge 32GB and like you, I’m having the same problem.

It is not appearing in windows explorer while it shows in computer management and it says that “you must initialize a disk before logical disk manager can access to it.”

I am really sad for what happened because my important files were inside there. Please help me fix it. I tried u3 launchpad too but it says that “Please insert a U3 Smart Drive.”

HELP !

You Sir are a FREAKING GENIUS ! I been reading these forums for over an hour and ran across your post…tried it and BAM ! Thank You.
