My Sansa e250 is seen and even recognized by my PC (Windows XP SP2) as a Sansa e250, yet it will not connect. It wants to download some software to connect to it but won’t find anything. This is a clean install of XP. The USB ports work fine with everything else. XP has all the latest updates installed.

Anyone got any ideas?

What USB mode is it?
If MTP you need MSC or similar, try with MSC mode and reload the firwmare, if ot, go to recovery mode and reinstall FW.
