Sansa Connect Not Recognized

I have windows xp and windows media player 10 and the first time i connected the device in it worked perfectly. Then when i connected it again the next day and it wasnt recognized and i already tried turning the device completly off by holding the power botton for more than 8 seconds. Also i know that maybe getting windows media player 11 will work but i want to know if there is any way that i can fix this problem without getting wmp 11. I already have the latest firmware on the sansa connect and its still not recognized by the computer or the wmp 10.  I was told that it would work fine with wmp 10 so i dont want to switch to 11. My Sansa E250 works great but the Sansa Connect is not recognized.

Have you tried the Sansa Connect Recovery Tool?

I’m running WMP 11 on WIN XP. I like it much better than WMP 10. I’d load it up right away.

I’m guessing the firmware version isn’t a factor since you said the problem doesn’t clear after power OFF/ON.

But make sure you have the latest release ZAP: 1.1.1.50371r

It is updated to the latest firmware. I guess the only thing left to do is to get wmp11 because nothing else has worked so far.

You didn’t say whether you tried the Sansa Connect Recovery Tool?

I just tried the recovery tool and it worked. Thanks for the help.

I have the same problem.  However, I have tried the Sansa recovery tool, tried Windows Media Player 11, Yahoo Music Jukebox, and it still will not recognize when I have the Sansa connected to the USB port.  I need help.

Try other USB ports on your PC.

Tried other USB ports on the computer, also tried other mp3 players on the same USB port.  The problem is definately the Sansa.  Waiting to hear back from technical support.

My Sansa Connect is not recognized by my computer.  I’m running Vista and Media Player 11.  I’ve tried turning the PC and Sansa on/off several times.  I’ve changed USB ports to be sure that wasn’t the issue.  What else can I do?  The installation CD was not included in the box, maybe that is the issue.  Any ideas?  HELP.

As was mentioned above … did you try the Sansa Connect Recovery Tool?

Running the Sansa recovery tool did nothing to help, just erased everything on the drive.  On the plus side, for some mysterious reason, it seemed to be working again.  Didn’t do anything different than I was before when it wasn’t working.  I guess I have a tempermental one.

Well, it also reinstalled the firmware, which often fixes problems that people are experiencing (though not necessarily the problem you were experiencing).

now again the sansa connect is not recognized by the wmp and the computer recognizes it. When i try to install the sansa connect to the computer it gives me a problem and it is unable to install the device and also the sansa e250 that i never had a problem with is also not recognized. When i plug anyone into the computer it goes to the instalation process and then give a problem and its unable to install it.

how do i uninstall wmp 10

Hello,

I had the same problem --my Connect was not recognized by Yahoo Music Jukebox on my desktop or my laptop.  After trying several different things I stumbled on the solution.  I opened Windows Media Player & clicked on Sync.  It asked me to confirm the device & immediatedly the Connect was recognized in YMJ.  Took about 30 seconds to do.  Went thru the same process on the laptop & it worked there too.  Hope this helps someone.  --------- I am running Vista & WMP 11

Well I’ve been having this problem, as well. The computer recognizes the Connect, it’s all right under the device manager, and the Connect ackowledges that it’s been plugged in. It’s just the Yahoo! Jukebox that fails to recognize it. I’ve plugged it into each of my USB ports, to no avail. It worked maybe a grand total of two or three times. I downloaded the Recovery program, but when I used it it said it was unable to recover the device. I tried using it through WMP 11’s Sync, but that didn’t recognize the Connect either. The OS is Vista, and the laptop brand is Vaio.I’ve had it connected for a while, so there’s no new Firmware available, so I’m at a loss at what to do.

When I was having the same problem, I didn’t actually use the Connect thru wmp 11.  I just had YMJ open then opened wmp11, clicked on sync, set up the device and boom-- it instantly appeared in YMJ.  Haven’t had a problem since.  May not help anyone else but it worked like a charm for me.

Well I tried doing like musicmomma said, but after the Sync option searched for devices, it got nothing but my local devices and not the Connect.
