Very low volume from Clip+ in a dock?

Hello,

My son has recently got a sandisk clip+ which works very well with headphones.

He would now like to buy a speaker dock but all the ones we have tried the volume is almost non existent yet if we connect an ipod to the same dock the volume is fine. He has the volume turned up on the clip+.

Can anyone recommend a dock that will do the clip+ justice?

The reason the iPod is louder if it is specifically marketed as an iPod dock is that if the iPod plugs into the dock using the port where you would plug its USB cord into it, then the signal that results is a line-out, which the dock can play louder.

One of those same docks, with a Clip+ or other MP3 player, you have to use the headphone-out, so your best results will be if you have the firmware set for North America and the volume set to "high’, the EQ on “Normal”, and the volume on the side of the Clip turned all the way up.

You’re probably in Europe, where laws prohibit very high output on headphone jacks.

There’s a very simple workaround for this, though. Just select “Reset Factory Settings” from the Settings>System Settings menu. This will reset all the menu settings to the defaults, allowing you to choose another region that doesn’t have this restriction (North America or Rest of the World). Note that this will reset things like backilght settings, equalizer, menu language, etc., but it WON’T erase any content you’ve loaded to the player.
