Does the USB drive show in Windows’ File Manager? Windows sometimes reassigns drive letters connected to removable drives.
yes it does shows in file explorer but only the drive letter shows up, the free space of drive and total space (that blue colored bar) doesn’t shows up.
Open a Command Prompt window with Admin Rights, enter: diskpart then enter: list disk, then enter: select disk and the number of the USB drive, finally enter: list volume.
What do you see for the USB drive?
Enter exit to end diskpart.
it is volume no.5 for my pendrive, the storage (which should be 16gb) doesn’t shows up there and in the status row it reads unusable unlike Healthy written for other drives
I recommend you find a way to backup your files while connected to the TV.
Buy a USB splitter so you can plug in a 2nd drive to the TV then copy all the files from the problem drive to a new drive, that works in Windows.
Another thought, with a small piece of emory paper, lightly clean the USB ports on your pc. Maybe a light touch of the USB drive’s contacts too.

My smart TV isn’t smart enough to support features of copying folders as it is and pasting them to another location
-
I tried cleaning the ports but no use of that.

I tried rufus and HP USB disk softwares to format the drive and the 2 softwares had a same problem that they are unable to write the drive, the drive is readonly. So I ask you dude if we can’t repair the drive with help of any software into the existence, can we just make it to write and read?
I won’t hesitate to get into technicalities.
At this point I think you should return it to SanDisk for a replacement. If your pc and android machines can’t access it there’s not a lot of options.
Hah! nice one man but you think a 2013 model pendrive would be accepted for some warranty work?
It doesn’t cost anything to try it.
Your disk is corrupted due to improper ejection from your TV. You can try a few things to get the issue resolved, first, try it using a different USB port or different computer, or try restarting your system. Use Disk Management on Windows to check for the drive and initialize it if required, update or uninstall the drivers. Run CHKDSK in the Command Prompt to fix file system errors. If all these things are not working then try data recovery software like Stellar, Recuva, and Disk Drill.

Recently I had the same issue with my Sandisk dual 64G drive. After trying almost everything, I realized that somehow it is about the partition type.
By default, when you create a partition, it is in MBR format. I switched to to GPT, then the problem solved!
I used EaseUS Partition Master for this, but I think you can use other freely available tools from AOMEI or Partition Wizard to do the same.
The problem is pretty clear. Your USB drive has been damaged from not being safely ejected multiple times. You can read this blog to find more basic solutions for the “error 0x800701b1: the device doesn’t exist was specified” issue. Data recovery software is a worthwhile option to try, but it doesn’t guarantee that the data on your USB drive will be recovered. These tools may find hundreds or even thousands of recoverable files, including ones you no longer need. I recommend starting with tools that offer a free trial.
I suggest you to follow the below steps for plug and play services and check if it helps.
- Press Windwos+R.
- In run type “services.msc”.
- Then locate “plug and play services”.
- Right click on it, disable and enable the service.
- Click on “ok” and then restart the computer, check whether the USB is detected.
@Arjun2000HP ,
If your SanDisk Cruzer Blade works on your TV but not on Windows or Android, try these steps: check Disk Management for drive letters, use data recovery software like EaseUS or Recuva, run chkdsk X: /f
for errors, and update or reinstall drivers in Device Manager.
Here are some steps you can try:
- Connect the USB drive, open Command Prompt as an administrator, and run chkdsk X: /f (replace “X” with the drive letter) to fix any errors.
- Right-click on This PC, select Manage, then go to Disk Management. If the USB is unallocated, you may need to format it, which will erase all data.
- If you can access the USB on the TV, back up your files there, then reformat the drive on your computer to NTFS or FAT32.
- If you want to recover data first, consider using recovery software like Stellar Data recovery, Recuva or EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard.
If these steps don’t help, consider reaching out to SanDisk support for more assistance.
Thank you! It worked
