My Sandisk e280 will not allow me to add/delete mp3 files and every time I start it up it automatically goes to a particular song regardless of the song/album I listened to last. A month or so ago the player froze while on this song, giving me a “bad track” message and since then it has done what I just described.
I have reformatted in recovery mode and downloaded the latest firmware upgrade and still have the same problem. Windows Media Player will allow me to sync and delete files yet when I disconnect none of my changes were saved I’m back to the same screen with the same problem.
This is a refurbished Sansa Sandisk e280 MP3 Player. Model #: SDMX4-8192-A70 Version: 1.02.18
I have hit the Reset All option once, which I know isn’t reccomended to do by users. I don’t know if that worsened my problems or not.
I have browsed e280 related issues in this forum and have not found any problem that is quite exact to mine.
Are there any options for me to fix this or do I have to get a new mp3 player?

Formatting erases all user-added content, so I don’t understand how this could be happening, unless you made a mistake and didn’t format the player correctly. While in Recovery Mode, did you create a new, blank file or folder and name it ‘sansa.fmt’ (w/o quotes)?
Upgrading (or re-installing) firmware won’t fix bad tracks. You need to run ChkDsk to find and hopefully fix the corruption in the files. If unfixable, then you’ll have to re-rip or re-download the problem tracks.

Where are you getting this? This won’t harm anything, but it will delete your personal operational settings. That’s all. And they’re easily reset. There’s not that many of them. It certainly won’t affect (or make worse) the problem you’re having.
