Problems with naming folders.

I bought a 16gb sd card form my sansa+. I named some folders there and put music files into them.

But when I start up my sansa all the folders I made is just labeled with “noname”.

This makes it hard for me to have controll where I have stored different genres of music. Solutions?

The Clip+ normally sorts files by ID3 tags(ie. by artist, album, etc.). The Clip+ will also let you navigate by folders though if you click on  music>folders.

You should download the free program mp3Tag to make it easy to edit tags.

http://www.mp3tag.de/en/

I usually always navigate trough my music>folders. Is this a program to change the name of the folders?

I change the names of the folders when I upload songs to my sansa, but when I later view on the sansa the folder just get the noname label. So I must remake the names of the folder with this program when my sansa is plugged in (to rename the folders that appears with the noname label in sansa)

Thanks.

mikerman,

thats  what I have done but when i start up my sansa the folder has still the name “noname”

Are you using (and transferring the songs to the player in) MSC mode? MTP mode has a nasty habit of changing the folder/file names during the transfer.

MTP mode will also not  let you edit tags on files stored on the player. While it is possible to edit tags on files stores on the player when connected in MSC mode, I have had instances when the files didn’t sort properly after that. The best idea is to make changes on the copy stored  on the pc, delete the copy on the player, then copy the file to the player again.

Yea I found out that when I transfered folders from my computer to the sansa, the foldernames was intact  But when I edited/created the folder names in the sansa sd-harddrive then folder names would change to noname. But what is MSC mode?

Mass Storage Class. It allows your computer to see your player as any flash-based storage medium (flash drive, memory stick, thumb drive, etc.) instead of a musical device that needs to be ‘managed’.
