Newly bought Micro SDHC not being recognized

I just bought a 32gb SanDisk ultra red and gray I plugged it into my built in SD card reader and it doesn’t show up at all

I’ve checked disk management there is nothing. I’ve tried everything and nothing works. This is the 2nd time it happened to me the first time was when I bought a 64gb white and gray SanDisk ultra card but it somehow fixed itself later on but this time I can’t chkdsk either since it’s not even being recognized

Hey, one simple thing you have not tried yet is checking whether the built in card reader actually supports SDHC cards beyond a certain capacity. Some older or low cost laptop readers fail with 32 GB and above. To rule that out, pop the same microSD into a other USB card reader and plug it in. If it appears instantly, then your internal reader is the issue, not the card.

Modern low cost USB multicard readers are widely available. The one I have can read all SD cards and CF cards etc. I have a different model for SD Express cards etc.

The quickest way to confirm is try the card in a different device. You can also try inserting a known working SD card into your built-in reader to make sure the reader itself is not the problem.

Else, you can run the Windows Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter. Check this article to fix SDXC card not recognized issue.
