My sansa fuze wont turn on ._.

Okay so here’s the deal, normally i would get a warranty on an electronic but i didn’t for some  reason ^__^;;; and now i don’t know what to do. My fuze wont turn on and i already tried to reset it, and the weird thing is that when ever i plug it in my computer it turns on! anyone else with this problem?

The Fuze comes with a 1 year warranty (unless you’re in Europe in which case it might be 2 years). You don’t have to “get” it. Are you outside of that period?

You say it turns on when you plug it into your computer. Is is making a data connection? In other words, does it say ‘connected’ and the controls do not work? Or does it just power on normally and not connect to the computer? What happens when you un-plug it; does it stay on or does it turn off?

If it only powers on when connected to your computer, I’d guess that the battery is either kaput or a lead has become disconnected from the battery. If it’s still under warranty, I’d call SanDisk Tech Support about a possible replacement.

Since it turns on when connected, you can try formatting it using your pc. This will delete everything on the player, but may revive it. If your Fuze has 2 GB of memory, format it as FAT, otherwise format it as FAT 32.

disconnect it and see if it turns on. If it does, then format the player again using the player’s menu(settings, system settings, format). If not, then let the player charge for a few hours, download the latest firmware, and install it manually on the player. Hopefully after this the player will turn on. If not, then try to get it replaced using the manufacturer’s warranty if it is still within the warranty period.  Sometimes a player won’t turn on due to memory or firmware corruption, but sometimes it is a hardware problem(such as a worn out battery, or a battery that has become disconnected).

Did you find a solution to this issue?  My player is doing the EXACT same thing.  The screen comes on when I plug into the computer or wall outlet, but as soon as I unplug, it turns off, without even the “Goodbye” screen.  I have updated the firmware and reformatted.  Nothing has worked.  Please please let me know if you found an answer.

My previous answer applies to you as well.

If it’s not still within the warranty period, you really don’t have a choice but to buy a new player. As long as it will still power up when connected to your computer though, you have the opportunity to make sure everything on it is backed up, or transfer those files to your computer for temporary storage until you get another player.

Since it seems to work when plugged into an ac adapter, The internal battery is probably disconnected or worn out, Since it works when plugged into an ac adapter, the player will still be usable using a usb battery pack.

You could get a small usb battery pack such as the Duracell Instant Power, or a larger one that uses AA nimh rechargeable batteries such as the Tekkeon mp1550.

The sansa device you have is most likely defective due to poor design.
