My fuze wont find my computer!

My fuze refuses to appear on my computer, even though i have checked everything, downloaded everything and all that:'(

what is wrong? anyone else with the same problem?

I just want to use the mp3 and be able to put my music on it.

Yep, I had the same problem. Just got the unit today. But I have had similar problems with other SanDisk hardware too. (Not exactly sure WHY I continue to buy from them…must think on that…)

I solved the problem by upgrading Windows Media Player to ver 11. I’m guessing it contains an updated driver that includes this device. My intention is to NOT use WMP, but drag and drop, but that’s what got me the updated driver.

I have already installed the latest wmp, and all the downloads on this site. it just wont happen.

anyway, i’ll try for a few more days before giving up. thank you.

The Fuze is shipped in Auto Detect mode, meaning that it has a peek at the operating system of your PC, and tries to connect in the available mode.

If you have Windows Media Player 10 or 11, MTP mode is available, and it will try.  The problem is that MTP is quirky on many installations.  This is a Microsoft issue.

On the device, go to Settings > System Settings > USB Mode, and select MSC.  This is Mass Storage Class, allowing you to use the Sansa in the same way as any USB flash drive.  As long as you aren’t using media that requires DRM, the Fuze will communicate more readily in this mode.

Simply drag and drop your mp3 or wma files to the Music folder of the Sansa.  As long as the files have correct ID3 tags, you’re in business!

Search under MTP mode in the search box above for handy suggestions on establishing an MTP connection, if this is your need.
