This message is intended as a warning: Do not buy a Sansa Express.

I’m a former IT professional with fifteen years of experience in the industry. And I’ve spent the last four hours trying to figure out how to create a playlist on this piece of junk without the use of Windows Media Player. It can’t be done. Samsung has deliberately crippled this product.

That’s it for Samsung for me. The Sansa Express has ruined their reputation with me, and I’m implementing a Vendor Death Penalty. l never buy another Samsung product as long as I live.

If you do not want to use a program to create a playlist, you could create a playlist directly on your Express. Though you don’t have to use WMP, you will need to have it installed on your computer to use this method. Connect your Express in MTP mode.

Select a song or group of songs.

Right click and select the “Create Playlist” option.

Once you have created the new playlist file, drag it to the “Music” folder". Or if you have a “Playlist” folder, drag it there.

You can now open the new playlist file and edit the contents.

You can add more songs from anywhere on the player including from the micro SD card.

Once you disconnect, the new playlist file will show on your Express’s menu.

By the way, the Express is made by Sandisk not Samsung.
