I’ve had a fuze for about 2 months maybe. I use it pretty regularly at work and every time I travel. I traveled one weekend and I didn’t charge it before I left, used it until the battery drained. I ended up taking the charger to work with me a couple days later because I didn’t get a chance to change it at home, this was Tue or Wed. Let it charge at my work computer until it was full then played it for a bit at work. Used it lightly over the next few days. Friday came and I put it in my purse with more than 80% change and forgot about it over the weekend. I go to work again on Monday and I go to use it, and I get nothing. It won’t turn on, just nothing. I figure that’s kinda weird, but I Might have put it in my purse without turning it off by mistake the the battery is dead, no big deal, I’ll change it later. Tueday night (tonight) after I get home from work I change it at my home computer… and I get nothing. Nothing at all. Dead. No connecting message, no charging messsage, the screen is blank. I tired holding the power button for 30 seconds, I tried holding the power while I plug it in, I tried holding all the buttons that exist on it while holding the power, nothing. I can’t get this thing to turn back on. It was in my purse over the weekend and there was no water or anything near my purse, no drops, nothing that could have caused this! I’m super super upset about it thought because I have to travel again on Friday! Anything I can do, anything?
The only thing different I did was let the battery drain then charge it at work computer (Windows) rather than home computer (Linux) but I changed it at my parent’s house before and they are Windows too.
Try charging it at your work computer again. Since you’re not 100% sure that it wasn’t on when you put it in your purse, it could be a drained battery. The usb port at your work computer may have more power than the one at home.
Or you could try a rear usb port on your computer, they give off more power than the front ones. If you don’t see anything happening with the player, just leave it plugged in for an extended period of time and see if that charges it and brings the player back to life.

Inadvertent powering up of the Fuze is difficult, due to the recessed power slide switch. Is it possible that the Fuze was on when stored in your purse? No worries if it was, as the Fuze turns off at a safe minimum level to protect the battery.
Try holding the power slider in the ON position for at least 20 seconds (I’ve never seen one take more than 30), release, then try powering up again. If the battery is low, and the Fuze is OK, it should power up briefly, or give you a shutdown message on the screen.
Then try plugging in to the USB port as before. Upon connection, let us know if the display and scroll wheel light up when it’s plugged in.

Thanks for the replies everyone. :)

I’m at work now. It is plugged in, nothing is happening still.

Yesterday I left it plugged in to a rear usb port for about 13 hours overnight. Still nothing.

As I said in my OP, I tried this a million times. For at least 60 seconds. There is no response from the Fuze.
squint and see if there’s gunk inside the connector “well”. Gunk or not, get a used toothbrush or something similar and scrub anything out. If you have compressed air, use that. Do the same for the USB cable side. Maybe that’ll be enough to get things rolling. Or not.
Thanks. Very good suggestion, I will try that once I get home.
I’m starting to think my new mp3 player really is bricked…Even though there should be no reason for it.

In the end . . . stuff happens. It may indeed be toast. Thankfully SanDisk stands behind their products with a 1 year replacement warranty.
And they’re not afraid to use it. :smileyvery-happy:
