Incredibly buggy Sansa Clip+ (purchased not too long ago)

Okay.  I’m going to admit I’m rather frustrated.  The Sansa Clip+ appears to have many software issues.

The idea of a hardware issue came to mind, but considering some music doesn’t mess up during playback, and the issues themselves don’t seem to be hardware related.

First off.  The player freezes and crashes often on about 90% of my music it seems.

The music is MP3 320, so nothing crazy in terms of size.  I’ve tried formatting the player and loading music onto it again, but the same issue occurs over and over again.

Upon a freeze I’m often stuck holding the Power button for a good while before I hear it shut off.  Then finally turn it back on.

The fact it acts this way regarding such a large amount of my music is really frustrating.  Any ideas?

Perhaps this is the cause of “bad” tags? I would download MP3 Tag and retag everything. You can find instructions on how to do this by searching this forum.

I’ll try that and get back to ya.

UPDATE:

Okay.  Tried that and it still seemed to screw up just as much.

So I did another format, reset to factory settings, and did a manual firmware update.

I’ll give it a test run today and see what happens.

Tried what? Exactly, and with detail please.

Yes, you’re issue does souond tag-related, not the fault of the player or the firmware. There are millions of these thing out there running perfectly fine. They are not buggy.

I used MP3Tag, and removed all tag information from my music.  This includes:

Artist

Year

Album

Cover Art

Comment

and so on

Now I didn’t say it was the fault of the firmware.  I stated I did do a manual firmware update.

Just to be sure the firmware didn’t corrupt on the last update using the Sansa software.

I don’t know why you’d remove critical information such as Artist and Album from the tag, but what format are the tags? They must be ID3v2.3 ISO-8859-1 for best results.

thanks for publish such a great and colorful blog.url=[http://www.eboxsystems.com]ms office price in Pakistan.i like it very much…must say, very innovative ideas of your and its great implementation.url=[http://www.eboxsystems.com]NAS prices in Pakistan…thank u again for publish it.

Performing a manual update and installing a firmware via that method seems to have removed the issue.

It has been going strong for a while now after the update.

Good!
