I can't figure out what to do

Usually I don’t have a problem with new toys… But I am baffled with my new Sansa Fuze. OMG I love it and I can’t get it to work properly.

Mostly with transferring audible books from Audible Manager. Message on bottom says that device is not connected.

I can access pre loaded music and that is it. I have read the manual but still am clueless.

Is there a 1st step?Would be grateful for some advice

Did you try using the player menu and setting the USB mode to MTP before connecting the player to the pc? I have never used Audible, however I have a feeling that it might require the player to be in MTP mode.

Thanks,

I just turned everything off and changed the USB mode to MTP and then reconnected to no avail.

But this was good info and I am going to reread the manual and hope that the Audible people will get back to me.

I had trouble setting up my Old Creative Nomad 5 years ago with Audible … so perhaps the problem is with them.

I will post the results. again thanks.

Try MSC as well…I dont think thatm usb mode is the issue. Can you download the Audible file to your PC and then Drag and drop the file into the audiobook folder?

Well Audible returned with advice to remove existing software and reinstall Audible Manager.

I did and now the Fuze is recognized.

All looks well until I try to listen.

Everything that is stored shows up as “unknown” and if I click I get a message to please activate device with Audible. Back to the drawing board.

I set the FUZE USB to auto… Nothing  and now I will reformat and start again.

If that doesn’t work I will go back to Audible once again.

Thanks for help.

In the Audible Manager, be sure to download the SanDisk Digital Players plugin.

Also, you must authorize your Fuze, prior to transferring books. (Add Device)

The Fuze requires Audible Format 4 media.  The more compressed formats do not work with the newer Fuze firmware.

Bob

The format 4 was the final answer to hear the books. I remember having read this before and duhhhhhh, forget to redownload books that were in format 3 from previous MP3. All seems to be working fine.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Bob saves the day again! In celebration he does his famous

(Hmmm . . . a little reminiscent of Monty Python, isn’t it?)

Is the Audible Manager the same as the Emusic download manager. I can’t seem to find a separate manager for Audible. If they are the same, where’s the Sandisk Digital plug in you are referring to? Sorry top ask

No, the Audible Manager is specific to audiobooks from Audible.com that come in .aa format.  The Audible Manager is a seperate application from Windows Media Player that sorts and stores your books, plus transfers them to your device.

MTP mode is needed for the secure WMA transfers.  The manager has a second option, integrating into Windows Media Player, but I prefer the standalone manager.  The AM has a great interface, multiple bookmarks, it keeps track of the playback position of every file on your device too.

In contrast, well, WiMP has its limits.  WiMP has issues playing 64kb/s podcasts, and an inferior GUI for books.

The plugins listed allow the Audible Manager to recognize the individual features of the supported player.
