Help Please!

Ok so i decided i was going to try to put Rockbox onto my Sansa e280 and although id like to think i am, im not all that tech savey, im not dumb but im no einstein… Anyway so i put it on but i first installed a skin that i didnt really like so i went back in to try to change it and didnt realize that i didnt have to uninstall the whole thing and then do it again with a different skin… so anyway i uninstalled it or at least i thought i did but now when i turn it loads Rockbox but then just says

Rockbox boot loader

Version 5.0

Sandisk Sansa e200

Partition 0: 0X0B 7649 MB

Partition 1: 0X84 20 MB

Mi4 size: 93800

CRC32: D83AOFEC

Model id: e200

Bianary Type: RBOS

Can’t Load Rockbox. Mi4:

Read failded (image)

Can’t load Rockbox. e200:

File Not Found

It shows this briefly and then shuts off.

I would have no problem with this because usually i would just plug it in and then format it the problem is that my computer no longer recoginzes it…

Once it is plugged in the main Rockbox lable comes up and then fads out and then flashes back to the Sandisk lable and repeats itself…\

I really have found myself in quite the situation if someone could please help me i would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks a lot!

by the way its a v1 01.02.18A

Try this. It will reinstall the Sandisk firmware and format the player (wiping out Rockbox in the process), which should allow your player to boot normally. Then you can reinstall Rockbox if you want.

Note that if you do format the player it will wipe out all your music, so don’t format unless you have a backup copy.

If you don’t want to format, my guess, and it is only a guess, is that you erased the Rockbox firmware and now the bootloader is telling you it can’t find it.

Make the bootloader load the Sansa firmware: Pressing & holding the REW |<< button while the unit powers up will boot the Sansa original firmware (thanks Tapeworm!).

Do that.  Then try connecting and put a new copy of Rockbox on the same way you did before.

Look at the Rockbox instructions and see how to make the bootloader load the Sansa firmware–_ is it holding the center button when you turn it on? I forget _–and do that.  Then try connecting and put a new copy of Rockbox on the same way you did before.

Pressing & holding the REW |<< button while the unit powers up will boot the Sansa OF on Rockboxed players.

With the OF (original firmwre) 2GB is the limit on v1 machines. Part of (in fact, most of) the allure of Rockbox is that it allows the use of the higher capacity SDHC cards up to the current ‘Big Daddy’ of 16GB.

Keeping in mind that in order to put songs onto the card, the player must be connected to your computer in the OF. You must use an external card reader to transfer songs to the SDHC format card, then plug the card into the player, boot into Rockbox and away you go.

Recent updates to the Rockbox firmware does enable USB support, so the external card reader may not be necessary, but this is only if you use the daily builds. It hasn’t been perfected yet for the official release.
