I recently bought a Fuze+ and became frustrated after failing to get my videos into an acceptable format for the player. I finally figured out the easiest way/format to get them to play properly:
Encode them in .wmv
Everything I’d seen before was getting at h.264, but after multiple attempts at this, it never worked for me. I dont like using the SMC because it bloats the files greatly and has sync issues.
If you use Any Video Converter (it’s free), upload your file and select that you want to convert to “Customized .wmv Movie.”
- video codec should be “WMV V9”
- frame size = 320x240
- video bitrate=768
The audio settings should already be good to go.
So, if you’re having problems putting video onto the player, use this method. I’ve had success using the aforementioned settings.
No, you use the CustomizedMP4 Preset, then change the Video Framerate to 30, the Video Bitrate to 1024, the Audio Bitrate to 192. Now the videos are exactly what the Sansa Fuze+ needs. AnyVideoConverter is also one of the fastest converters I have seen. It’s also free.

Just to let everyone on here know, h.264 encoded videos will NOT work on this device, unless there is only 1 ReFrame. Personally, I don’t know exactly what this means, except that two or more ReFrames will not work. You can tell if there are two or more ReFrames by downloading Media Info. Also, contrary to what the *official* requirements say, the Fuze+ also supports Mpeg-4 ASP (Xvid, Divx, ect.), so if you want to use that instead, feel free.
When I was using AnyVideoConverter, after I had converted a video, the output was always “VideoName”, then x264 after it. Im guessing these videos are h.264? Correct me if I’m wrong. Also what is 1 ReFrame?
