Drivers for m200 player

Good morning.

I bought an m200 player 2GB, but unfortunately the CD in my computer does not work.

I looked in the internet for drivers like I have on the small CD, but didn’t find, even in the sansa.com site.

where can I find it ?

I got the files from the CD using other computer and a memory card.

BUT THE CD CONTAINS ONLY TEXT AND NO DRIVER !!!

My windows xp doesn’t recognise the player (yes, I moved it to PCR), and I don’t know where to find the driver.

Maybe somone can help me where can I find the required driver ?

Same problem here, XP doesn’t recognize the M240 and tells me there are no drivers. Anyone found a fix yet? If so please email me kburnside@gmail.com

terHi Katy. Do other computers work with your sansa player ?

Sorry.

?

No drivers required for Sansa m250 on Windows XP.  What OS are you running?

How can I solve it ?

Sorry, I don’t have a specifc answer because I don’t know what’s wrong.  Here are some things to check; some of these questions are simple because I don’t know your level of expertise with Windows.

  • When you say your computer doesn’t recognize the player, exactly what do you mean?  What are you doing and what do you expect to happen when you connect the player?
  • When you attach the player, does it say “connected” on it, or give any indication it has connected to the computer?
  • Especially if not, have you tried a different USB port?
  • Are you connecting through a USB hub, or directly to the computer?  Try a direct connection to the computer.
  • Do you have other USB devices, and do they work properly?
  • If you display “My computer,” and then connect the player, does anything change on the display?  Does an additional drive show up?  (It should.)
  • On the player, open the Settings menu and check the USB settings.  By default, it is set to “Auto Detect” and that should work.  Try setting it to MSC and see if that makes any difference in behavior.
    Hope this helps.

Also, do you have SP2 or better applied to your Windows XP system?  I’ve seen comments in a Sansa Fuze review that SP2 was required for drag-and-drop operation with the Fuze.  It wouldn’t surprise me if the m250 had the same requirement, but I don’t know for sure.

Have you tried connecting your player to someone else’s computer?

HAD SAME PROBLEM. PC COULD NOT SEE  IT. NO DRIVER FOR m240 Mp3 Player. No help FROM SANDISK

Installed Windows 11 media player NO PROBLEMS PC SEES IT STRAIGHT AWAY.

I connect the player to the computer by USB, and no additional driver apears in “My computer”. It also tells that the device I connnected to the USB acted wrong and cannot be used.

> When you attach the player, does it say “connected” on it, or give any indication it has connected to the computer?

I have already answered this question.

> Especially if not, have you tried a different USB port?

Yes I tried, even in the back f my computer, it didn’t help.

> Are you connecting through a USB hub, or directly to the computer?  Try a direct connection to the computer.

I connected it directly.

> Do you have other USB devices, and do they work properly?

They work properly, including mass storage devices.

> If you display “My computer,” and then connect the player, does anything change on the display?  Does an additional drive show up?  (It should.)

No additional drivers apears.

Hope this helps.

I changed it to MSC. It did not help.

I have SP2 and even SP3 on my windows XP.

In other computers it works o.k. .

Hmmmm…  You’ve tried just about all the things I can think of.  Other USB devices work on your system, your player works on other computers, asking for specialized drivers only to find there aren’t any, etc.  The error message you report certainly sounds like a driver problem.

My best guess is that, as you thought, you do have a driver problem, but it is a problem with the drivers installed on your system and not a question of a missing m200 driver.   This guess is based on general experience with Windows XP but not any particular knowledge of the m250 (except that I have one, and it has been problem free). I’m just another user, albeit with many years of experience working with computers of all sizes.

I can think of a few things left to try:

  1. You didn’t say you had tried setting the USB options to MSC instead of Auto-Detect in the player.  Have you tried that? (Most reports I have seen on the web for similar problems gave that as a solution.)

  2. Did you see the previous message where someone reported that installing Windows Media Player solved their problem?  My guess is that made MTP mode (selected in Auto-Detect) work.

  3. If you haven’t done this already, try using a different USB cable; maybe the cable is defective?

  4. Unplug all USB devices from your computer (except mouse and keyboard if those are USB), reboot, attach player.  If it works now, there’s a conflict with some other device which you could identify with further isolation testing (although I’m not sure what to do about such conflict if you find it).

  5. Update the USB driver (go to Device Manager, select USB port, show properties, update driver).  I recommend being sure you have a complete backup of your system just in case before doing this.

Hope this helps.
