So I just got a 16GB microSD-HC card for my Clip+, but I can’t get my player to recognize it. I have tried all of the following:
adding music to the SD card directly, and plugging it into my Clip+. I tried adding it in its original folder structure, with all the MP3s at the top level, and mirroring the Clip+ folder structure (i.e. in MUSIC folder). No dice.
reformatted the SD card, and re-tried all of the above.
plugged the card into the Clip+, then connected it to the computer. Both the SANSA CLIPP drive and the Removable Disk drive show up, but when I try to open Removable Disk, it tells me to insert a disk into the drive.
reformatted the Clip+, restored factory settings (except changed USB mode back to MSC), and tried the above again with the same results.
System information shows 0 MB under SD card, and there is no folder for the card. I believe I have the latest firmware - v.01.02.09A. What in the world is going on? Is it supposed to be this difficult?
And one more thing: when I plug the SD card into the player, it does say “Refreshing Your Media,” so it’s recognizing that something has been insterted into the SD slot.

Sounds like either you don’t have the card fully inserted into the slot, or the card and/or card slot is defective. Do you have another card to try? If it doesn’t work either, and you’re positve the card is ‘locked in’ (you’ll hear 2 faint clicks when it’s in there correctly), then I’d suspect the player’s card slot is bad and you should get it replaced under the warranty.
The card is definitely locked in, but I don’t have another card to try. It works fine when it’s loaded into my computer with its adapter, so it seems like the card I have is working properly.
I’ve had the player for several months now. Is it possible that dirt and/or moisture from my pocket are gumming up the connection in the slot? Is there any way to try to clean the connections?

Well, it seems to be leaning towards a defective card slot. You should probably contact SanDisk for an RMA (Returned Merchandise Authorization).
