Track numbers all mixed up in Playlist folder

Spent days trying various options to have my MP3’s show in the correct numbered order on my MP3 player Playlist folder (01 Song title, 02 Song title, 03 etc). I used TagEditor (For MacBook Pro) and deleted all the tag info and started from scratch, still the same problem! In the Tag Editor program I currently have the track number, Title, File name (which is numbered 01 Song title, 02 Song title etc) and Tag Format which is currently ID3v2.3.0 Funnily enough I have the same tracks in the Music folder without numbers and they display correctly in alphabetical order. I even tried putting the numbered tracks in there but still a mixed up running order!! Any ideas, suggestions most welcome…
