Terrible sound quality from MP3s on new Fuze 4Gb

Just purchased a new Fuze 4Gb player.

FM radio sounds great but every MP3 sounds terrible. :-(  They sound very tinny & vocals sound like they are under water.

  • I’ve loaded the latest firmware on it.

  • I’ve tried a variety of MP3’s with different bitrate/quality levels.  Several of which sounded great on an older iRiver.

  • I’ve played with the different equalizer settings.

Any ideas?  If it’s nothing easy, it’s going back to the store soon.

Unplug your headphones, Then plug them back in and push HARD! The fuze has a very tight headphone jack, and this could play a role. My guess is that the FM is fine because the headphones are the antenna.

Thanks.  Now I feel silly. :-)  I’ve put the headphones in several times with the same results - but now REALLY pushed them in and that did the trick.
