Strange microsd things

First post and kinda long…sorry.
I bought 2) 128gb micros and they are strange and unusable. I put them in my trail camera and let them record about 20 vids each. I used the sd adapter to put them in my reader. It showed all the video files. I click on the first one and it played. The 2nd one played. Then the 3rd showed an error in the VLC media player saying the indexing was either broken or missing. The 4th on down just a blank screen in VLC. Both cards did this.

I deleted all of them in my anti-virus program secure file eraser. I loaded them back up and tried again. The 1st and last vids played but nothing inbetween. Another time only the last 2 played. It’s always just 2 that will play. BOTH CARDS.

Then I put the micro’s directly in my reader without the adapter with the same results. I contacted support here and waited. Some time after, I updated my ticket saying I thought they were counterfeit.

Support got back to me in record time after that asking for pics of the cards which I sent back right away. Been waiting ever since.

I started playing with these by doing full formats in both fat32 and exfat. Same results in the trail cams as when first used. I have read tons of info on cards and have learned quite a bit.

Today I started playing with them again. I copied a bunch of short videos to both of them. When done, they will all play! But, but if I eject the cards and put them right back in, every video is nothing but a black screen as if VLC is waiting to start playing. No errors, just a black screen in VLC.
What’s up with that?

Now here is my next question:
If a flash card is corrupt, contains missing or broken files that make it work, why is there no programs we can use to replace the files on that card back to new condition? I understand there may be something physically damaged and replacing the guts may not work, but why? Is the firmware? or ? proprietary? If so, then how are they being counterfeited?

And if Sandisk support is reading this, I sure would like to know if they are fakes or not so I can take the next step on the seller I bought them from.

Hi! It seems like your microSD cards might be defective or counterfeit. Here’s how you can check:

  1. Format the Cards: Perform a full format (not quick) using your computer in exFAT or FAT32 format.
  2. Test on Other Devices: Try the cards in a different reader or device to rule out compatibility issues.
  3. Check with SanDisk: Share clear pictures of the cards, packaging, and receipts with SanDisk support for confirmation.

I did all that as stated in my post.
Sandisk told me today the cards are counterfeits, fakes, ripoffs, junk.
I did some more testing and now 1 of them won’t even format at all.
It was strange. The card formatted to Fat32 came back from CHKDSK with zero errors but still does the same stuff.

The one in exFat has tons of errors (I split the pic) and windows says it has been fixed but can not even open it anymore.

The fact that only the first few videos play, while the rest show black screens, suggests that the card is fake. The best thing you can do is format the card. Because, when you format the cards, the fake storage still reports the incorrect size to the system.
And, speaking of the pictures requested by support is a standard procedure to validate the authenticity of the cards. However, delays in fixing such issues are common with fake products.
