Songs Skipping On My New Fuse

I just purchased a FUSE and all of the songs that I’ve downloaded are skipping at some point.   What could be the cause of this?

Could be a variety of reasons. What type of files and where did you get them? I’ve had songs skip on my player; went back and played the file that was backed-up on my computer in WMP and it played fine. So I just deleted the one that skipped on my player and re-transferred it over again.

Then I’ve had bad ‘rips’ from CD’s before; skipped on the player, skipped on the computer. Deleted, re-ripped the CD, noe everything’s fine.

These things hiccup every once in a while. Who knows why?

After I sent off the message I decided to read through old messages.   I found some that said that skipping occurs when the headphones aren’t in all the way…I double checked them and was able to push them in a little more.   It seems to have helped the issue.      I’m very new to an MP3 player so didn’t even think of this problem.  Thanks for your ideas.

New to the Sana Fuze as of today.  Thanks for the questions/answers about the skipping…DUH!  I didn’t plug in my headphones all the way!

Me too, headphones not all the way in.  Same problem, my bad.

Thanks Sansa for the forum!

I am having a similar problem, but mine skips when it IS plugged in all the way, so I have to pull it out slightly, and it stops skipping, but then when I am jogging, it comes out all the way often.

One way or the other there must be a root solution to this problem.

try it with other sets of ear/headphones. Not all phone jacks are made the same unfortunately. If it still skips then you may have a bad phone jack on your Fuze. I have heard this with some Fuze owners. If the player is still under warranty you could RMA it back to Sandisk for a replacement.

I have a very similiar problem. I just bought a brand new Sandisk Sansa Fuze 8GB and I put all my songs in my fuze and almost half of my songs skip like a scratched CD, they dont even play for one second. Some of these songs I have are downloaded from youtube so maybe that’s a factor why…but I dont know what the problem is because I had another mp3 just a while ago, a Creative Zen PLus 4gb, which worked fine, all my songs (whether from youtube or ripped from CD’s) worked on it. I checked the songs on My Music before I put them on my Fuze to see any problems, and they should all be compatible, they are MP3 and WMA format. I also saw if the file was blocked so I checked the songs that skipped and they said “This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer”…so I unblocked them and retransferred them into my Sansa Fuze, but still the same problem. Please help!!!

P.S. Its not a headphone problem… they are all the way in, and doesnt have any problem with the volume or headphones.

Downloaded from YouTube? What steps are you using to do that?

You may have accidentally added copy protection along the way since you’re getting that message.

You say its not a headphone problem but all that you say is that they are all the way in. Try another set of headphones and see what happens, you may have a lame set. If they are ok then plug the current ones back in and press really hard. If neither set works then you probably have a larger problem. But without trying another set of working headphones then there is no way to isolate that those are not the problem.

I fixed it. The problem was that I needed to convert them…even if they were mp3 format.

Tried 5 different earphones, none of them solved the problem.

It works only if the earplug is partially inserted.  However, the skipping happens again when volumen is above 60%!
