Although I never timed it before loading the new firmware, I noticed that now when I turn on or off my clip zip, it stays on the “S” flower for a full 15 seconds before turning on or off. I do not have a memory card installed, so I do not know why it takes so long. Has anyone else experienced this? .
Something that is event more missing is control of the balance left/right.
Many people do not ear the same and would be pleased to make the left channel louder than the right one (or the reverse), which for classical music at least is a must when hearing an orchestra, especially when one cannot perceive a whole bunch of instruments.
I still don’t understand players do not propose this, this compells me to decode / adjust balance / rencode all my music before downloading them to the player.
So, please consider adding at least a balance, if not a bi-channel equalizer (some kind of sounds only may be not perceived, for instance after years of work on loudy machines). You can even advertise that (many people do not even know they are deficient !).

- I would agree this would be a worthwhile feature or enhancement, but . . .
- A suggestion such as this really would be better placed in the Clip Zip Feedback and Feature Request Thread instead of this one. Having said that though . . .
- It’s doubtful we’ll see any more firmware updates for this model, and . . .
- I have doubts that it would ever be added by SanDisk, however . . .
- This _ is _ an option in Rockbox (alternative 3rd-party, open-source firmware).
Could you please add the unicode support for Sansa Clip Zip. I have some song in Vietnamese, the charaters are actually very similar to the ones in English, and I still have many “boxes” in the titles because the player cannot display them.
One flaw that I have found with this level of firmware is that when the equalizer settings are selected they player plays them for less than 5 mintues then reverts to playing “normal” even though the equalizer is set to anything else. Please remedy.

That’s odd. Mine doesn’t.
I just tested a few of the preset EQ settings (Rock, Jazz, Dance, etc.) and the Custom Setting letting each of them play for a half-hour to an hour. After the test period, they all were as I had set them to. They did not change back to Normal.
You are pressing the center Select button after scrolling to the EQ setting you want, right?

Which RB theme is that?

I have several on my player, but that is the one I use most of the time.

Just installed RB, been playing with it for about 30 min. now. I’m still having to get used to the different control assignments (like the power button putting the player in ‘stop’).
I installed the clock_lock2 theme, I like what it shows in the display. One feature I cannot figure out is how to get it to show the system info, says to select “Pause+lock”. I’m dainbramaged, I’m not sure which button is lock now; tried the power button, select, put in in screen lock, nada. Which combo is it?

I’m not sure…I’ve never used the lock function, in original firmware or Rockbox. By system info, what are you looking for? something different than scrolling down in the main menu to where it says “system”?
On the RB theme page you linked to earlier, it’s this image
It’s the final image of the 4 shown.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen that particular screen…lol. I can see where it would be useful though.

I can’t figure out how to access it, couldn’t really find anything in the help forums. Other CZ themes have the same combo listed for the same function. I wonder if that’s a Clip screen though. Any idea what combo button press is involved from the description?

Figured it out (finally): put the player in Pause, then press the Pause+Return button to lock the player. That will switch the display to the above screen. It’s not quite the same display (mine was showing EQ an Xfeed, no date) but it’s similar. The battery info is in the same place so it works for me
Based upon the photo / screenshot, that’s a Zip, note the screen aspect ratio and white characters in the bottom line. Glad to see you’re having fun with RB on the device. Plenty of information there! My eye always zips right up to the time elapsed / remaining data.

Sure is a Zip. I’ve had Rockbox on mine now for close to a year! :smileyvery-happy:

Same here, RB running on a Clip Zip. The main reason for switching to RB is the elapsed time. I do not understand why Sandisk’s engineers are resistant to putting it on the CZ.
