Thanks, but when I go into ‘Music Options’ I only get two choices ‘repeat’ and ‘shuffle’, and no matter how much I press the bottom button it just continually alternates between these two options. I can still get to the EQ through the settings -but it’s usually a longer process.
No Music Option. Settings > System Settings > Equalizer.
Or by Play. Down key and Scroll to Music EQ.
Got it now! Thanks. Great Forum and I will add my weight to the huge body of opinion that wants Track Time etc, added.
As a classical music lover it is very difficult to navigate long tracks. I wonder if the developers in SanDisk ever listen to classical music, or do they think all tracks last 3 minutes?
Dear all,
I have just buy a Sansa Zip Clip and updated it to the last software V01.01.20F.
Here in the north of Italy the RDS info does not work.
I can see the right name of only one station “R.PIPER”, for all the other FM stations I see some strange characters, i.e.: KZTH, KYZX, KZNY, KYTK, WCEA, KZQS, KZAQ, KZOA, KYZX, KZAV, …
Thanks. Regards.
I installed the new firmware and soon after my mp3 player started crashing. I restarted it a few times but it kept crashed. Tried pluging it into the computer and that failed. I just tried to reinstall the firmware and it will not register or turn on. Basically the new firmware just seemed to brick my Clip Zip. Does anyone have any simulare problem?
When a playlist is created in Rhapsody and then transferred to the Clip Zip it adds the tracks from the playlist, but the playlist won’t show all the the tracks it should have. For example if a playlist has 39 songs it may only show 29 of them once it’s transferred into the clipzip. Is there a fix to this? Thanks.
Thanks for a new firmware
In my moblie phone has “now playing menu”
I hope sansa clip zip will have.
Although I appreciate the constant updates that the developer’s team is putting out, I am still baffled why they haven’t yet added a track count and a current time/total time functions.
Besides the fact that basically every player on the market has those functions, be it an mp3 player, cd/dvd player, blu-ray player, or a software designed to play music, like winamp (even my old VCR shows the current time and the total time or the time remaining!), this feature has been requested repeatedly and insistently on this forum.
In case my previous statements haven’t made this clear enough, I would strongly appreciate if I could see the above functions integrated in the Clip Zip.
I find it hard to believe that I have to register and write a post to request this most basic functionality for an mp3 player.
Not everybody is a electronic addict, yet thats what it seems you have to be to get the sandisk to function. All I wanted to do is listen to a book, not go to college for 4 yrs to learn how .Never again. John

I wouldn’t hold my breath.
just got a new clip zip, and chose accidental chose arabic as the language. as i can not read arabic, i want to change the language. i downloaded the firmware updater, but it does not install. there is no error message, and no response when i run the .exe file. i am running windows xp. so i need help getting the firmware updater installed. and then maybe the languge thing
Don’t bother with the Updater. Just follow the manual install directions in the 1st post of this thread. Once you install the firmware update and unplug the player from the computer, the update process will begin, then shut off. When you turn it back on, it will ask you to select a language.
Otherwise, here’s how to change the language back to English in case you ever accidentally change it to something else again. English is the top option once you get to the Language section.
Thanks. i had seen that recommendation and tried that, but i can not drag the .bin file into the root directory of the clip internal memory. i can drag it into other folders, but that does not update the firmware. it seems i do not have access to the root directory of the clip memory.
Try using MSC mode (on the player).
I just don’t get it. Even a simple game of chess has been updated with a digital elapsed time display"

Indeed!
But this is America, where if you want something done, you have to do it yourself…the corporations don’t care about us little people.
I like the Rockbox “early Clip style” yellow top lines. Is that GUI more legible outdoors?
If it were my call, I’d make the time display pop up instead of the progress bar whenever you forward or reverse through the track, or whenever the display is first activated. Seriously, the song rating doesn’t change as the song is played, right?

I do find it to be fairly legible outdoors, depending on how high I have the brightness set. And that photo doesn’t do justice to the colors…it really is just like a Clip+ display color-wise. From the Rockbox theme site….http://themes.rockbox.org/index.php?themeid=1547&target=sansaclipzip
When you forward or reverse through a track, the progress bar and the elapsed time change. But song ratings, well, I couldn’t say…I’ve never used them. In fact, they require the dreaded MTP mode, as I recall…
I don’t know what’s going on here. My issue is almost the same as xsynfulx in Message 27 and 30?. My daughter has this Sansa Clip Zip but it won’t do anything. When you power it on all you get is the 4 color Sansa icon. It can be powered off, turned on, but all it shows it the icon. No music, nothing. I’ve tried to reset it numerous times with no success. It won’t connect to the pc and the pc doesn’t even recognize it’s there. I’ve tried this with 2 laptops at home, my desktop and a few pc’s at work (after installing the Sansa stuff on the disk and without installing it.) and nothing works. Even forcing it into usb mode doesn’t work. just that stupid icon. When I reset it and turn it on the icon will appear go away and reappear and then just stay almost as if the coding in it has been wiped from everything after the icon appearing. It’ll read the code for the icon and then like it runs out of code and stops. Or it’s hanging on the icon or something. I can’t install the update if I can’t get the pc to recognize it. And stupid SanDisk doesn’t have any help or solutions for it on the site. All i get is the same **bleep** answer to reset it or force the usb mode after I already explained that this is not working. She just got it for X-mas and has listened to it almost everyday and one day she plugs it in to charge it and is listening to it and shuts it off when she goes to bed and then this. WTF? Is the code this unprotected or without a backup in the player to allow this if the code was wiped by a power fluctuation when removing from charging or plugging it in? Pretty cheap coding if you ask me. Especially after reading all the comments made as far as how the OS is set up in the player. If it’s java script, it’s not that hard to code these in.
So anyone got a solution for me? or shall I just throw the **bleep** thing away and stay away from SanDisk considering this is not the first SanDisk product that a similar issue like this has arose. I’ve been thru a few flash drives, and a couple micro cards and now the second mp3 player altho my first was a video/mp3 and it didn’t have fm.
