Sansa clip+ not recognized by computer

I plug my Sansa clip+ into the computer USB port, a Dell, Windows XP system, but the sansa unit does not appear. It also is not listed in Windows Explorer.

What can be done to make the computer recognize the sansa clip+ ?

Try different USB ports and/or switch your player to MSC mode (Settings > System Settings > USB Mode)
