very slooooow.
No need for the gold.  The free version converts.
Hopefully this solves it.  We’ll see in a couple hours, once the conversion completes.

And, google has always been my friend.

You may want to confirm that you can successfully sync and play one of those converted files, before you spend the time converting all of them.  :wink:

Even so, is it not prudent to have my songs in Mp3 (the universal) format?

And I think the itunes program (for an antiquated shuffle) I originally had on my computer may have converted the songs to m4a format from the beginning.
I just always assumed they were mp3s.  In one of my searches, I read itunes converts songs to m4a format by default?
If that is so, Rhapsody is not to blame.

m4a is itunes not rhap… itune conversion to mp3 shouldnt be too slow

Unfortunately, I removed itunes from my computer when I obtained the sansa clip since my shuffle had long since broken and been thrown away.
Last night I attemted to reinstall the itunes program, but it required the serial number from the back of the discarded player.
I know I could have just downladed it free online, but I resolved to get a new, more universal music management program.  Hence, I have installed Media Monkey and am hoping for the best!

If you still had your Shuffle, MediaMonkey would have been able to sync it anyway.  :wink:

Also, you probably want to allow your batch conversion to complete, but for the future … any background process (such as this) can be terminated in MediaMonkey by right-clicking on the status bar at the bottom and selecting “Terminate”.

Well, the conversion completed, I uploaded everything to the clip and discovered the conversion left the library with two copies of each song: one m4a and one mp3.
After juggling and deleting all those m4a files, I detached my clip, plugged in some headphones, crossed my fingers, and pressed the “it’s go time” button.

I don’t know why but sometimes Xp and Vista don’t recognize USB drives right away.

After it’s plugged in and you are told “it’s ready to use” open up my computer-

If you don’t see the player there, hit “F5” and wait a few seconds- this “refreshes” the list of devices, and it might show up…

My Sansa clip is acting weird. It’s a 4-GB,top model–

I was listening to it,and all of a sudden,it stopped working. I tried to charge it (I let it sit for about an hour.) When I tried to turn it on,it still wouldn’t turn on. I held the power button down for 15 seconds as the guide stated…

And now,when I plug it in,my computer doesn’t even track it.

And yes,I have met all the requirements.
