we have the problem, that our Sansa Clip won’t skip chapters in Audiobooks. If you hold the buttons, it fast forwards/rewinds, but if you only click it once, nothing happens. This is only in Audiobooks and Podcasts, but not in Music.
However, we already owned a Sansa Clip 8GB, which worked great. Then we bought a second one (also 8GB) with the described problem. The strange thing: The same Audiobooks work fine on the other Sansa Clip (same firmware version). Also strange: Skipping works with music folders, so it can’t be a hardware fault. However, we discovered this last bit only recently, so we already had it returned and got another Sansa Clip 8GB (the third one). Again, skipping doesn’t work. I’m suspecting that something with the files is wrong, but I’m puzzled by the finding that they work fine on our first Clip. They all have the same age, our first clip is just a couple of weeks old, and they all came from the same vendor (Amazon), so I’ll guess it is the same batch.
I think you have access to the setting if you press the button in the 6 oclock position while playing an an audiobook. I think there is a menu choice for audiobook settings or chapter settings. I don’t have the Clip right in front of me now, so I am not sure about this.
Well I am sure of one thing. I have been unable to get my Clip+ to go automatically from one Audible book part to another. I have written about that and the
Chapter Mode problem on the Clip+ list and some on this one. I got very little help because no one seems to know including SanDisk.
On either Clip or Clip+ Click the bottom button with the Audible book on the screen either in pause or play and you will get chapter mode. Center button will turn it off or on.
I have regular clips that use both chapter mode and auto move to next book part correctly using the latest firmware.
My new Clip+ will not advance from Part one to Part two un less I choose to go in and change it manually which is a drag that should NOT exist. With Chapter Mode on it would click and skip unless I went too far and then it went back instantly to beginning.
I just now turned off the Chapter Mode and tried again. Now when it finishes Part one it goes back to the beginning and the only rewind method is to hold down
the appropriate side button. It does not go from part to part.
I rest my case that Clip+ is not an Audible ready device as advertised. One user has told me that his Clip+ works from part to part. I have not gotten an answer back
about what his settings are. This seems to say that all Clip+'s or Clips are not created equal. I fixed my problem by not using any clips for Audible books!

That did the trick, now it works on all SansaClips we have. We’ll send one back now again. A pitty that I only now discovered that the Clip+ is out
