SanDisk Extreme SSD 512GB not recognized on USB 3.2 Gen 2 Ports (X570 AORUS ELITE Motherboard)

Hello everyone,

I’m experiencing issues with my 512GB SanDisk Extreme SSD when connecting it to the*USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports on my Windows PC. Here’s an overview of the situation:

  1. Setup and Testing:

  2. Troubleshooting So Far:

    • I set the F_USBC31 port in the BIOS to Gen2, Auto, and even Gen1 to see if it would help, but none of these changes made a difference.
    • I’ve also tested the port with other devices (such as my iPhone 15 Pro), and it works fine, so the issue seems specific to the SanDisk SSD.
    • Unfortunately, the SanDisk software cannot detect the SSD when it’s connected to a USB 2.0 port, so I can’t perform a firmware update that way.
  3. Additional Steps Taken:

    • Updated all relevant drivers and ensured my BIOS is fully updated.
    • Tried different USB cables and disabled other USB devices to check for conflicts.
    • Verified the port’s power settings and disabled USB selective suspend in Windows.

I’d appreciate any insights or suggestions to resolve this, as it seems like a specific compatibility issue between the SSD and the USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface on my motherboard. If anyone else has experienced a similar issue or if there are firmware updates available for the SSD that could help, please let me know!

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Hi! No, I didn’t, I’ll try tomorrow, thanks! I’ll share info if I can fix the issue.

Start by updating your motherboard and USB drivers, then try connecting the SSD directly to the rear USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports instead of the front panel. Using a different USB 3.2 Gen 2 cable might also help. In Windows, check Disk Management to see if the SSD is detected and disable any power-saving settings for USB devices. If possible, update the SSD’s firmware using a USB 2.0 port or another device. Lastly, verify the connection to the F_USBC31 header and reset the BIOS if needed.
