I bought this new SSD in Dec 2025 to work as a TimeMachine back up for my M4 Mac Mini. It worked fine for the first 3 months, now the Mac doesn’t even recognize it, cannot perform First Aid (this has fails) and I cannot even mount the drive.
I have followed all of the advice I’ve found online and nothing is working. It’s just dead.
It is now outside of it’s return window with amazon, so how do I claim a refund from SanDisk or at least a replacement?
Hi @pommieken, Did you drop it recently, or used it in Windows Os, There may be file compatibility issues if not damaged. Let me know if you need further help.
If you’re just looking for a replacement or refund, it’s best to reach out to SanDisk directly. Since the SSD is likely still under warranty, they’ll most likely replace it—or in some cases, even refund the amount. But if you’re more concerned about the data on the drive, you might want to first check solutions for fixing a Mac not recognizing an external drive. Sometimes it’s just a mounting issue or file system glitch that can be fixed before giving up on the drive completely.
