sandisk cruzeredge 32g shows but no size or volume -not solved

I have this very problem. but no 3kies ???

the drive is recognized, but comes up 0 free space 0 room left.

it knows its a fat32

it can be mounted with partition software and read as correct size and volume ect

i can see the directory structure, through editors, but not the files themselves.

some coments about mbr is they are not on flash drives and some say they are.

the first sector of this flash drive is

00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

the last sector of 496 is

00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 55 AA

so some where in about 16384 is another, maybe copy of the mbr as it implies fat 32, fat 2 , ect

then another possible mbr code at 19456 (a copy of 16384) looks like a copy

so the data is still there. i just need to know how to fix the flash drive as xp will be able to read it.

i do have a win7 machine that may have corrupted it. or just a power down failure.

24g used out of 32g. a lot of info i want back.

i have a thought.

i bought a second flash drive at the same time. if i was to copy the first say 20000 sectors and or when ever i see a patern, from the first drive too the second will that work. both drives are factory formatted so why not ?

It’s not just Kies that causes the problem with drives not being recognized. The list includes:

Samsung Kies

Sony Play Memories

Sony PC Companion

VMware Player

HTCMonitorSevice

HTCSync

Are you running any of them?

Thanks. I just want to ask, what is it with Samsung Kies that pose conflict onto this? I mean, is there any work around that both of them could be installed on a single somputer?

Not sure. The apps can be installed just not running when the Cruzer is plugged in to the best of my knowledge. If they are restarted after the Cruzer is plugged in may work permanently. I don’t use any of the apps so I can’t test to find out. If you do please report back your results.

I have 2 identical SanDisk Cruzers - 1GB each.

I have Samsung Kies installed, to sync my phone with Outlook.

1 SanDisk Cruzer is found and viewed just fine; the other, shows as something that can be ejected, but not anything with any visible files.

I am running Windows 7 64-bit. The problem Cruzer is found and seen on my Netbook running XP, as well as on my ancient Desktop that is also running 7 64-bit. Neither of the other 2 computers has Kies, but that still does not explain why one Cruzer is visible and the other not on the computer running Kies.

Thanks! Plugged in the Cruzer and could see the files for a second, but then exploer would lock up for a while, then the disk couldn’t be accessed. I searched my running programs and found PMBVolumeWatcher.exe (two diffrent PMB* processes acctualy) These are programs from Sony to detect when you connect a camcorder. Killed them with task manager, pluged in the Cruzer again and worked like a champ!
