RIP FUZE and no more items from SanDisk...

Haven’t checked in here for a long time. My Fuze went NUTS today and finally locked in refreshing media mode and no matter what I do it continues to lock in refresh or if connected to computer it shows the top two of the 4 “flower petals” and locks in the writing screen. I guess it finally died all together. I see they have discontinued the FUZE. I guess this is a good thing since they never could get the thing to work correctly like on shuffle where it repeats songs many times and never plays others and would never play the amount of songs promised/claimed when they sold this junk player. It’s sad to think of all the money SanDisk screwed out of people selling this junk. Well they got me once but NEVER again. I know they could care less as there are plenty more suckers like you and I they can screw. I will NEVER buy another product of any kind from them.

This might help:

Tried that several times and it goes to refresh and locks. I think this one is dead. As bad as I hate to admit it, I know several people who have the i-touch players and have never had a problem with them. I may try one as I see the used 32G on CL going pretty cheap. I have a Zune 120 and as soon as I loaded 20K songs the hard drive would crash. I’m on my 5th warranty replacement and so far (3 months) it been OK. I thought of selling it while it still works BUT I’m the kind of person who couldn’t sleep knowing I sold someone JUNK (Unlike SanDisk and MS). Looks like building a quality product is becoming a thing of the past.

Perhaps it has not occurred to you that there might be something wrong with a file or two.

It’s been loaded with the same songs and playing 8-10 hours a day for the last 4 months with no problems. It started today by no audio after playing a hour or so and when I checked it it was scroling through the songs and album art. There is no way to even get in it and format it and reload since it freezes on “writing” when hooked to the computer or freezes on Refresh by itself.

Have you tried the fix Saratoga recommended (about halfway down his page with the link)?

Have you tried forcing MSC? With the Fuze off, slide the power switch down to Hold. Connect the USB cord to your computer and open Windows Explorer. Hold down the << side of the wheel and connect the USB to the Fuze.

If it pops up in Windows Explorer, you can right-click and run ChkDsk (Properties/Tools/Error-Checking) or Format it.

To be clear, those instructions allow you to boot the player without refreshing the database.  If you see the database refresh screen, you’ve probably done something wrong.
