Please Help

I have recently purchased a E280, the problem is that when I try to download the media converter, I keep getting an error message saying that Sansa Media Converter has encountered a problem and needs to close. I have tried several times to download and can’t get it to take. Also after pluging in the device to the computer it does not show it being plugged up. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
