Please give us back FM region for Japan!

Dear Sansa Team!

Please give us back the FM region for Japan (starting at 76 MHz), which disappeared in 1.01.22.

To be able to use my Fuze in Japan, I still have to use firmware 1.01.15p, but I also would like to have features like folder navigation, replay gain or album art support for FLAC.

Thanks in advance!

From what i have heard the fuze is not sold in Japan and the Japan FM band was taken out because if it is selected in Europe you will be able to tune in police frequencies. Unfortunately for this reason I doubt it will be added back to the firmware.

If they took it out because of police frequencies, they are a little bit late. As far as I know, almost all European countries use digital radio meanwhile.

Also, listening is not illegal, some Scandinavian countries even stream police radio over the internet…

A possible workaround could be to enable Japanese band only if the players language is set to Japanese.

Wow, the Polizei must be extremely secretive or paranoid in Europe if this is the case. Police scanners have been widely available and popular here in the States for decades.

You can’t broadcast on the frequencies, but you can listen. The bad guys have been doing it for years.

To solve the problem temporarely, I bought a c240 on Amazon.co.uk for £10, which fortunately is v1.

So I could install Rockbox on it and now Japanese radio works perfectly!

As I don’t really think SanDisk will put Japanese radio band back to new firmwares, my Fuze will have to wait until Rockbox works on it to get reactivated…
