My FM Radio isn’t playing any sound, but i can change the channels and still nothing. Can anyone help?
Make sure you’ve hit play, and that the volume is up. Not trying to be insulting, but most radios don’t require you to press play, so you may have missed that.

And it’s easy to overlook this on the screen. Without a progress bar as on the NOW PLAYING screen of .mp3’s, it’s hard to notice at first glance whether the radio is on PAUSE or PLAY.
Well I’m not on pause and I’m turned up and still no FM playback wich ■■■■■ cause I like to listen to football since my home team is blacked out almost every week.
Have you tried resetting the frequency parameters?
SETTINGS > RADIO OPTIONS > FM REGION > (USA/Japan/World)
Are you sure you plugged in your headphones all the way? I do that sometimes and I can’t hear anything!

I’m seconding the point made by the pause guy, but I just want to be sure you’re not on mute: If the volume icon (the little speaker button) is red and not green, that means you’re on mute.

new user of the Fuze here, i just updated the Fuze ver 1 firmware to 01.22, today and there is a BIG problem.
big, there is NO choice to pick Japan as a Radio Region.
there is only USA and World, this is not good.
the language i picked is English, with the last update, .17, it let me pick Japan.
please help, i can only get 1 radio station with the World region, actually the World setting is the same
as the USA region setting. the Japan region is 76 to 108, and all the radio stations in Osaka, all 5 of them
are below 89. so i can only get 1 radio station, this is not good.
as long as i got your hear, maybe down the road, how about a new firmware that will record radio NOT
as WAV files, but rec. them as .MP3 as 128k, that is what iRiver has. (oh, iRiver also has TEXT, hint)

Can’t help you on the radio region issue, though it should work alright if you chose your region properly when you first booted up the new FW. If not, try changing the language, then change it back, and it should give you the option again. Or do a hard reset by hold the power switch for awhile.
As far as recording, I second the desire to record both radio and voice in a compressed format. However, I do understand that compression requires extra system resources above simply converting the sound to digital. Its possible that these players may not be able to utilize the ADC (analog to digital converter) and perform file compression in real-time, due to the lack of RAM. Granted, it would require less “horsepower” to play the files, but if it can’t do the conversion and the compression at the same time, then it simply can’t be done. Just like the database limitations, seems like what’s really limiting these players is RAM. The AS3525 has a very small amount of its own ram, and SanDisk did not add an extra RAM module to save cost and space, so RAM is really scarce. This is why FW updates typically won’t add ALOT of new features, as many of them would require too much RAM to run anyway. Not to mention that many functions will be loaded into RAM anytime the player is on, so the more features you add, the less space you have for other things in the future. I would like to see the ability to record in compressed formats, though, but I certainly understand if it just can’t be done.
Perhaps you need to choose Japanese as the language to access the lower Japanese FM frequencies?

I’ve thought about that before, maybe doing the compression afterwards. I can see this certainly being a viable alternative if real-time compression is not possible. However, I doubt they would ever implement this, as you would initially need the space for the full .wav file, and unless you tend to record multiple times in the same day, chances are you will have access to your computer before you need to use that extra space. Honestly, it wouldn’t be so big of a deal if we could choose to record to the card as well, but since we can’t, I keep most of my music there, in order to have about 2 gigs free for the huge recording files…

hi, guys
about recording as WAV files, like we have a choice,
well, we take what we have, smile. what i do is to
cut the wav files off the Fuze, then use the great
free app, CDex to convert the wav to mp3 128k MP3
files.
but, really, what IF we have a 4Gb. Fuze and its
stuffed with videos and stuff up to 3.5Gb. then,
not so much room to rec radio shows at that point.
i have the CLIX2 by iRiver but have not used it in
a few months, i really think it records radio as 128k
MP3 files, but maybe i got that wrong.
hey, anyone see what some of the new digital photo
frames can do? it seems they are able to play AVI
MPG1 MPG4 and some of them, MP4 videos along
with MP3 audio and of course JPG files. maybe
the photo frams are moving into the area of what
the Fuze can do. of course frames will need to have
a good battery, but, the screens are way bigger that
the Fuze. so, maybe in 2-3 yr. the mp3 players
will merge with the 8 inch frames.
