Numbers in front of filenames.

I sincerely hope this hasn’t been asked before…

Using the drag & drop method to transfer albums to my memeory card via MSC, I notice that many, but not all albums have an alpha-numeric prefix before the album name, like so:

 0D070000_John_Coltrane_-_Giant_Steps

What am I doing wrong here?

Many thanks!

Try renaming the files and correctly tagging them with MP3Tag.

There is a bug, if I remember right. Search the boards for Folders remaned by player.

Any update on this yet?

Are you sending them through Windows Media Player somehow? Don’t.

Rip them to a folder on your computer, open that folder and one of the Sansa drives in MSC,  and drag them over.

rewrite the mp3 tag using windows media player 11 simply right click and click on #blank cuz i forgot#. its easier

I can’t say I follow, click on what? (Album? Song?) and then what?  I’ll mention that the numbers are at the beginning of FOLDERS not songs.  It seems to happen with long folder (album) names, like “Welcome to the Freak Show- Live in Concert” or “WOW Hits 2006 Disc 1”.  I would like to be able to use folder view, but still MTP mode, I like playlists, but I have some songs that would be doubled up in playlists, so I can’t use folder view for that.  It is useful for browsing by Album Artist (As opposed to song artist)  I can still use it, but it isn’t as easy…

Thanks in Advance!

I’ve taken to using a kind of shorthand to label my albums. Tagging software may spoil this shorthand thing, but so far I’ve gotten away with it, especially audio books.

Instead of Cormac McCarthy - The Road, I’ll use CorMcC_Road to name the folder.

Rude & crude, but so far no more weird prefixes.

[Off topic, but ya’ll emailed *me*: what firmware version are we up to on the Fuze 4GB?]

Thanks in advance - Fritz

What, you can’t seem to find the [Sansa Fuze Firmware Update post](Sansa Fuze Firmware Update) at the top of the board?

Geez, it’s the 4th one down. Open 'yer eyes, Fritzy! :stuck_out_tongue:

Geez, it’s only the 4th one down. C’mon, open 'yer eyes, Fritzy! :stuck_out_tongue:

OK. Oh wow, my bad *cringe*. You are quite right and I had that coming.

Thanks for pointing out my soul-crushing ignorance. I should for sure know better, since I have been with the internet since all we had was the *nix shell (*that* was fun, I’ll tell you that for nothing).

I shall try to set a better example in future, given my alte Kämpfer status on the net.

Prosit und Gesundheit!
