I just received a new Sansa Clip+ and I only see a small headphone set and “Music” on the display (the battery indicator too). Is that a sticker that needs to be removed? No matter what I do, I cannot see anything on the screen except that.

Yes. It is there to protect the screen from scratches/dings/damage during manufacture, packaging and shipping. There’s a little tab (on the upper right side if I recall) to help start it to peel off.
