When clicking on the properties of the sansafuze 8go player it says there is 5.6 gigs of files… but when i go inside the music folder there is nothing ! and i still can play the files in my player.
how am i going to transfer back all files to my PC if it cant see them !?!?

I’ve been having the exact same problem. It’s not even a matter of USB modes for me; whether I change it to MTP or MSC, Windows Media Player 11 or My Computer will recognize my Sansa Fuze but says that there’s no music files on it, even though it’ll still say how many GB is left.
The Music folder may be hidden by Windows. I know, it’s a stupid idea.
In My Computer under Tools/Folder Options/View (that’s XP–probably different in Vista or Windows 7), look for the checkbox that says Show hidden files and folders.
And if that doesn’t work, look in every folder. Or use the Windows Search function by size, and make it anything larger than 1kb.
Im having the same problem. My computer will recognze it but no files will show up. I can play the music fine but then half of my songs are also missing. PleaSe help me out. I really dont want to reset my fuze and this has necer hapoehed before
With the Fuze (AustriaMicrosystems processor), files transferred in one USB mode are not visible when connected in the alternate mode.
Simply put, you are in the alternate USB mode, MSC versus MTP. The device is communicating in the alternate mode from the one used for file transfer on your PC. On the device, go to Settings > System Settings > USB mode, and have a look for the one that’s highlighted. Select the other one and see if your files are now visible.
If Auto Detect was selected, the device has automatically switched, meaning that something has changed for the MTP side.
Frst try switching manually.
If MTP has ceaased operation, this is part of Windows Media Player 10 and later- we can go into deeper troubleshooting if you wish to use MTP. First, try switching modes and see if the files are visible.
Thats not the problem i have already tried that. My fuze says i have 765 mb free our of 7 gb. Which means that its early full. Yet not a single one of those files show up on the music folder. When i use the player it self it shows me it oinly has 86 songs on it but it still says its almost fool. What the hell is going? Its not wether its mtp or msc. I started happening yesterday after i finished using in in my car.
Get Windows to Show hidden files and folders. In XP, which I still use, you open My Computer/Tools/Folder Options/View and check a button for Show hidden files and folders. If you have a different operating system, look in your Help files.
Now connect and see if the songs were in a hidden folder. You might also connect and search for a folder or song that you know is there but you can’t see.
Have you looked at all your lists (not really folders) like Video, Voice, Audiobooks, etc. on the Fuze?
Have you connected to PC in both MSC and MTP modes?
How about right-clicking on the Sansa drive in Windows Explorer (Computer or My Computer) and doing a search by size in each mode?
If you don’t care about what those mystery files are, you could also just use the Fuze’s own Format command (Settings/System Settings, scroll down) and nuke it.
