microSDHC-support

After reading the posts I’m still not sure, if Sansa Express with the newest Firmware 01.01.05a supports microSD HC cards or not. Has anybody got experience with 4 GB microSDHC SanDisk cards with Sansa Express? I’ve read that SE cannot read microSDHC cause of hardware is not compatible. I’ve also read, that people used SE with 4 GB microSDHC card. So how is it?

Thanks
Leo

Your player should work fine with 4 gB micro SDHC cards.

Yes, 4GB microSDHC cards will work with SE with the newest firmware 01.01.05a, eventhough it is not stated ‘officially’ .

I don’t have any personal experience but reported problems appear to be with cards manufactured other than by SanDisk.

I wonder the SE will support 8GB and 16GB cards also? Here is hoping :manwink:

It does not seem to work with an A-Data 4gb Micro SDHC. I’m running 01.01.05a, It just stops at Refreshing Data Base. The 2.0GB A-Data MicroSD works fine.

I have not been able to use the 4GB SanDisk SDHC card with Sansa Express. Firmware upgrade, hard/soft reset, etc. Computer will recognize the extra drive when in USB mode, but won’t let me do anything with it (no format, etc.) I can format the sansa regular just fine.

When 4GB SDHD is installed, Express behaves erratically - sometimes logo only then dies, sometimes builds database then dies, sometimes plays music, but plays in 1 sec increments and pauses another 2-3 secs. Display also animates in 1 sec increments then pauses for 2-3 secs. Seems to die randomly after this.

Express w/o SDHC drive works beautifully.

Thx, Tk

For anyone who has had this problem, or has had a problem with SDHC expansion cards in general, I found the solution to my problem above:

What worked for me was the instructions on hard-updating the Firmware:

http://forums.sandisk.com/sansa/board/message?board.id=express&view=by_date_ascending&message.id=1731#M1731

Allowing the updater to install the new firmware automatically for some reason did not work.

I am having the same problem with my Express that everybody seems to be having.  I can’t get my 2gb card to work in it.  When I bought the card and installed it worked for a while, then stopped.  I have the latest firmware update, but still can’t get the card to work.  It’s NOT a San Disk card.

Check your firmware version. If you do not have 01.01.05, then update your firmware. Also, format your card to FAT32.

If your card worked once, then their should be some hope that it will work again.

Yes, the firmware is up to date.  And, I have attempted to format the card WITH the Experess, but it still doesn’t work.

I ordered a Sandisk card.  Supposedly those work the best.

yup! reported problems appear to come when ppl use cards other than Sandisk.

I also use  a Kingston now without any probs.

Yeah, and that ■■■■■.  They should be able to make a player that can handle any brand of micro sd card.  They are all basically the same thing.
