My wife is filling her 4GB Fuze up and I’m thinking about having her pick up a 8GB micro SDHC card for it… I would just like to know how much the card sticks out of the player. Dose someone have a picture of the player with the card in it? I just want to make sure she can use the player with the card installed full time without the worry of damaging the card or have it it catch on everything. George
I think I read that it only sticks out mm. I’m not really sure, as I don’t have a SDHC card.
It doesn’t stick out. It is basically flush with the player. To remove the card, one pushes it in, then it pops out. Avoid getting a class 2 card, as filling it will be slow. Class 6 is best, but class 4 is okay. A class 2 card will take twice as long to fill as a class 4 one. A class 2 card takes 3 times as long to fill as a class 6 one.
JK98,
Thanks for the info. I understand how the card mechanism works reading how you explained it! I have a digital camera that handles media cards the same way. Glad to hear that setup was used in the Fuze! Sounds like we will not have to worry about the card at all… I’ll have a look at he cards spec. that’s on sale… I know it’s a Sandisk 8GB and I would venture to guess it’s a class 4… Great info! Thanks again! George
Yea, I can see how you’d probably be asking that. I would shoot some pics for you but I think I lost my mSD hehe. The Sansa e200 series stuck out a few MMs like… 1?
I have a class 2 8GB card ($21) for my 8GB Fuze, and I didn’t think filling it up took too much time (and I don’t do it often anyway). Database refresh time is long though (maybe 5 min). It basically does not stick out at all. If I look at it facing the Fuze, it appears flush. I have to look at it from the side to see it sticks out about a hair’s width. It really is not a problem. Can’t wait to get a 32 GB microSDHC card!!! Sorry I’m too lazy to take a picture!

Thanks! guy’s. I’m not worried about the card sticking out any more, I had to word that carefully.LOL!! Skinjob,
I’ll have to look at the class card it is when I go to the store… Staples is local to me and they have a Sandisk 8 GB card for $24 bucks on sale now… Thanks for the New-egg info! Good deal $35 for a class 6 card… I’ll remember that…
The wife and I both got Fuzes, her a 4gb and me a 8gb then she had to have new ear bubs so we hunted down a pair that would stay in her ears and sound good. Sony MDR-EX55LP’S $40 buck’s later. After hearing how good they sounded i had to have a pair for my self so I got a pair too… Between that fuze’s and other other big ticket items a 8 gb card is still in the should i buy or wait list… But her Fuze is almost full so that may be a good excuse… Were going to have to buckle down soon, with the way the economy it’s going it’s gonna be a bumpy ride! But the Fuze is one of my way’s to kinda meditate and add some stress relief to my life. George
Ok let me try to post some pictures… don’t know if it will work…
First one… well we just don’t see the card facing the Fuze:
Next:
Third one:
And finally:
Hope this helps!
Hey guy’s! We ended up getting the Sandisk 8GB Class 2 card $24.99… Reason is because my wife is going to use it in her 4GB Fuze and will not be swapping out cards. She’s going to use it as it was internal memory… I’m thinking by the time she fills it up they will have a 16GB class 4 or 6 card at a more reasonable price and we’ll replace it then with that and I’ll use this new 8GB card in my 8GB Fuze… Sound like good reasoning? George
It does sound like good reasoning. I accidentally ordered a 4gb class 2 and decided to put that in my cell phone since I’m going to be leaving that in there all the time (it is easily removable but I bought a cable to transfer music, photos, etc). Decided I only need a 4gb in there since my Fuze is my main music player.
Thanks for reconfirming my thinking! I feel refresh time should not be a issue for her if used that way. I felt the Class 2 card with the Sandisk name on it that was on sale ase the one to get for now… George

Getting the 16 gig card for yourself and leaving your wife with the 8 gig sounds _ more _ like good reasoning to me. :smileyvery-happy:

Not sure if I understood your previous post; will your wife be changing the contents of internal memory? If so, my experience is that the Fuze will refresh its database from the card, as well. Even if the card is not modified or removed/replaced.

Oh that makes sense.
George, if you want, Amazon has teh 8gb, class 4 for $33 which includes shipping. Not too bad, I think. Radioshack has them for $39 on sale right now, so if you don’t want to wait, it’s another option.
PromisedPlanet Hello,
I should be all set. But to explain myself a little better… My wife intends to, and did install the 8 GB SDHC card in the card slot… It will be left there, she not going to use multiple cards. Her player *a4 gb Fuze* has a almost full internal memory… *about 318MB’s* left on it… She will be adding Mp3 to the 8 GB external card only more or less from now on… I know that if we change data on the internal memory or add data to the external memory that there will be a database refresh… We are ok with this… My concern was a refresh every time the unit was turned on because of the new external card and I now now it will not refresh unless some changes are made…
Funny thing i did notice is that when we delete data with windows media player-11 it shows deleted in WMP-11 but if I look at the card in windows explore it’s in fact all still there… So I just delete it from explore and everything looks to be ok… Thanks!! George
Dalaug234,
Thanks for the info!! We already got the class 2 8gb Sandisk one from Staples for $24.99… The wife is fine with waiting she has more patience then I do that’s for sure… But I’m finding other issues with the player. I posted here if anyone wants to have a look see… Thanks again! George

George-
To manage the µSD card from WiMP11, you need to click on “next device” in the upper right corner, as WiMP treats the card as a separate entity.
Note the status bar below the device when using the Sync mode of WiMP11. It will toggle between 4GB (The Fuze internal memory) and 8GB (the mounted µSD card).
Hope this helps! WiMP won’t display everything at the same time. That’s why the songs on the µSD card appear to be “missing”.
If you use the Audible Manager for books, there’s a better method; this GUI shows two buttons, one for each memory section. I wish Microsoft would have employed something similar, but there 'ya go… it’s Microsoft.

I just bought a 8gb microsd card. Do I need to format first? Thanks!

FYI, Newegg has a Class 6 8GB card for about $35 shipped.
But they only ship to the U.S.
