I’m new at this to but from what i was told no you don’t need to format the card unless you have issues such as a corrupted file causing issues with the card… Fat 32 is the file format you want to use if you end up formatting it.We just got a Sandisk 8 gb class 2 micro SDHC card and it worked fine out of the box…
