Volume is just very low no matter what I try. Did the suggested reset and set region trick - none of the 3 options makes any difference. Volume High and Normal are the same in all cases. I got this to play in the car, plugged into car aux its too low to use even at max volume, which is blasting and far too loud on any other source. Phone playing the same files is fine, so its definately a problem with the Sansa. If it cant be fixed I will have to return it as its useless with this low and unchageable volume setting.
Updated the firmware from 1.01 to 1.04 - no change.

I too had an issue with very low volume on playback of some MP3 files. The fix is quite easy. A free (no spam) program called wxMP3gain. It allows you to raise the gain of any mp3 file. You can also lower the gain, if need be. You can load batch files, so you don’t have to do one at a time. You can search for this program on YouTube for tutorials on how to use it. It is lite, free and works great.
