Life of Clip Plus?

I haven’t seen this anywhere else in the forums. Has anyone had their Clip Plus so long that it finally died, as in, couldn’t be charged anymore? If so, how long did it last? Mine just had its fourth birthday and is starting to act funny sometimes. I’m worried!

Four years is a long time for any recharageable battery if you use it a lot. Might be time to stock up on a replacement.

Sandisk has some Clip+ in its clearance sale.

You can also look on eBay if you want to take a chance on a refurb.  I had good luck with deal.fisher on eBay but someone else claimed they did not.

Amazon has cheap refurbs too–and a customer-service reputation to protect if things go wrong.

Do I recall correctly, from info. when the Clip first came out, that one could expect something like 500 recharges of the battery?  That’s full recharges–if you recharge at 50% of a charge, the amount would double.

Thanks for the info! Do you happen to know if the earbuds included with these players are still the same as before? I loved my Clip earbuds, but eventually one ear stopped working, and NOTHING I have found since then is better than those! (That is, reasonably priced ones.) I wish they would sell them separately, but it’s almost worth getting a new player just for the earbuds.

The ones that came with my refurb were the same ones that came with my other Clip+ . That’s all I can tell you.  I don’t use them because I have seriously better in-ear phones from Shure.

But even a slight investment in better headphones will bring you great joy.

The headphone geeks at Head-Fi have these suggestions under $20 for IEM–inner ear monitors, basically speakers built into earplugs that fit snugly into your ear, which give you more isolation and much richer sound than earbuds.

Here’s another cheap-headphone comparison–if you don’t want in-ears but just typical earbuds, there’s a Sony for $17 they like.

Thanks! I’ll check those out.

As far as I recall, the Clips have been shipping with the same type/model of phones.

There really are alot of good and inexpensive/less expensive phones available nowadays, and a world of good sound opens up with good phones.  You might check out the Headphones forum at anythingbutipod.com for suggestions, and to pose any questions.
