I’m trying to decide what mp3 player to buy, and the sansa fuze is pretty appealing except for the problem with it playing music like 1% slow and inturn the pitch is slightly lower too.
Last I saw in a thread was it will be fixed in the next firmware update in a post by sansafix in december 08.
Is this update out and can anyone confirm that it plays music like its supposed to now?
Thanks
It’s supposed to be included in the next update, due out sometime this month (March).
Actually SansaFix only confirmed this fix last month. And Since December there has not been a Firmware update. HOWEVER a new one is due out by the end of this month. And A Fix will be included. The thing to remeber is this, the players with this problem were a very small % of V2 fuze’s (Or at least thats whats been confirmed, an even smaller % of V1s have playback issues). If you are an audiophile or anything less than that as a listener the odds say you wont notice. If you are a musician who plans to play along with your fuze then this may be an issue.
V1 fuzes play fast(high pitch) by the way.
And who confirmed that its a problem with only a small number of fuzes?
Only a small number of people tested it for themselves. (i did with my V1, and it is too fast/high)
If i recall correctly it happens on every one! Otherwise one firmware for every revision wouldn’t fix the problem.

But before you tested did you notice it was playing to fast? The OP asked about “SLOW” PLayback. Which happens on V2 Fuzes. When you consider how few people have come on and complained about the speed issue, its only a few fuzes where its actually noticable.
The point isn’t that I don’t want a player that plays slow, I want a player that plays like its _ supposed _ to. I truely do not understand how a product meant for reproducing music can play slow/fast. It seems the people designing and (supposedly?) testing this player(and I mean the engineers and such) are clueless.
A fix is in the works. I trust it will fix the issues you are asking about. BUT the fix will come out when the Firmware does by the end of the month. And if you are looking for a player that is perfect be prepared to pay dearly for it, I have a player that I bought from China that plays back perfectly, and it cost nearly $2000 I use it when I record covers or when I play with out a backing band. For less than $200 you wont find a player thats perfect.
