Inability to save files from PC to Portable Extreme SSD

I am attempting to use my SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD V2 1TB drive for the first time. It appears in Windows 11 File Explorer as “CD Drive (E:) SanDisk Unlocker” with subfolders “Extras” and “Locale”. Right-clicking the drive and selecting “Properties” shows “Used space:” of 6.03 MB and “Free space:” of 0 bytes. I tried to add another subfolder, but this wasn’t an option in the main context menu, nor in “Show more options”. I followed replies to related posts in this forum for both (1) dragging and dropping a 700 KB file from my PC to the drive, and for (2) copying and pasting the same file, with no success. Additionally, I attempted to set up a file backup using AOMEI Backupper Standard. The drive didn’t appear in the destination location dropdown menu, but I was able to first select “Select a local path” and then browse to the drive. However, when I selected it I received the error message, “Please insert a disk into CD Drive (E:).”

That’s the brick wall I’m up against at present, and I’ll very much appreciate any suggestions for a way forward.

It looks like your SanDisk SSD is locked due to preloaded software. To fix this, try running the “SanDisk Unlocker” to unlock the drive. If you don’t need the preloaded files, you can reformat the drive in Disk Management to use the full space. Additionally, check SanDisk’s website for any necessary drivers or software.
