I purchased this drive for my daughter who is running out of drive space due to the ever-increasing space requirements of today’s games.
She has had nothing but trouble since installing the drive. The games she transferred to the drive no longer work - so she has reverted back to using her internal drive. The problem seems to be with the password application that autoinstalls when the drive is connected. I have set the drive up on my pc to try and resolve the problem. I have reformatted the drive but cannot remove the partition with password unlocker. Any pointers to remove this software would be gratefully appreciated.

To fix the issue with your SanDisk drive, start by turning off the password protection using the SanDisk Security software, which you can download from the SanDisk Support website. Then, open Disk Management on your computer (Win + X
> Disk Management), delete the existing partition on the drive, and create a new one formatted as NTFS or exFAT. For further help, you can reach out to SanDisk Support.
To remove the password unlocker software and partition from the drive, follow these steps:
-
Use Disk Management: Open Disk Management on your PC by typing “disk management” into the Start menu and selecting “Create and format hard disk partitions”. Locate the external drive, right-click on the partition with the password software, and choose Delete Volume to remove the partition.
-
Reformat the Drive: After deleting the partition, you can create a new partition by right-clicking the unallocated space and selecting New Simple Volume. Follow the prompts to reformat the drive.
-
Use Third-Party Tools: If the software or partition persists, you can use third-party partition tools like MiniTool Partition Wizard or EaseUS Partition Master to remove the partition completely.
Once the partition and software are removed, the drive should be ready for use without the password unlocker application interfering.
Thank you both for your interest in my issue. I did download the utility after my initial cry for help and used the remove password option - this did stop the annoying virtual cd partition from popping up after every reboot of the drive - honestly why put it there by default - most people just want to free up some space - not protect their Nasa blueprints…
Thanks again folks.
