How can I check the battery level in MSC mode

I am not able to connect my Clip in MTP mode on two different computers

both of them XP and one with WMP 9 and other with WMP 11.

I was able to connect in MTP on a friend’s computer.

I read in the posts about the battery problem that it is possible to read the battery

exact level (in percentage of full charge).

Is this seen on the PC side?

I am not able to find any battery status under properties when I connect in MSC mode,

which is the only way I can connect.

latest firmware - .20

Any idea how can I see the battery level? I want to check for self discharge.

Thanks in advance,

Uri

There’s no battery level “property” available in MSC mode.

The only battery level indication is the icon on the Clip then. With FW V20, the indicator has quite good resolution and you should be able to see if yours has a battery issue.

Maybe this will be added in an upcoming firmware release, it’s been discussed here

Thanks,

any idea why can’t I connect in MTP mode?

One of the PC’s is an IBM laptop, it has XP SP2 and WMP11

I already went into System/ Hardware/ Device Manager and removed

the USB setings that the Sansa created but it didn’t help.

I will try again and if the problem still exist I will open a new thread

with more details on that subject.

Make sure you also have all the Windows updates & patches. I think there is a Microsoft digital rights management patch that is required before the Clip will be recognized.
