Hebrew - left to right?

All the listings in Hebrew that I have (artists, songs, albums) are listed in Hebrew font, but left to right, which is opposite to the way the language reads. I wonder if this is unique to Hebrew, or whether users who have Arabic songs on their Fuze also have a similar problem with Arabic fonts?

Just to help others get the idea, imagine that “The  Pretenders” appeared on the Fuze as “sredneterP ehT”… Readable, but very awkward…

I’m not sure if that is really a problem of the device or not because the Fuze basically just displays whatever is in the ID3 tags of the music files.

I’d double check the settings in your CD ripping or ID3 tagging software to see if it is set up to work with your language correctly. And, even then, music that comes from other countries may still end up the wrong way. So, guess I really don’t have any full solution for you.

If I recall correctly, this has been brought up before and the fact is Hebrew is not supported, so there really is no ‘fix’ for it. If you do a search, you should be able to find the relevant threads.

Thanks, Tapeworm, the search for other threads came up with some interesting results.

Judging by the other posts, Hebrew is actually officially supported. However, it seems there is no way around the left-to-right problem, so even the devices sold in Israel (that’s not where I bought mine) have the same issue. The only solution I found was to create copies of all Hebrew-titled songs and then retag them with reverse-spelled names (and there is a piece of software to do that). TBH, this is even more inconvenient that reading Hebrew left-to-right, so I guess I’ll leave it at that.

My only problem with Sansa is that they offer Hebrew firmware and claim support of Hebrew although they have a bug as major as this one.

If you change your language to Hebrew, it will appear right to left, the problem is when your language is set as English.

Ah, but I don’t want to. I am very happy with the English interface, all I want is for the Hebrew titles to appear correctly.

That aside, switching to Hebrew interfaces alignes title to the right with peculiar results. For example, an album title “The White Room/Justified & Ancient Disc 1” appears as “Ancient Disc 1”, until the title starts scrolling to the left, which only happens if you pause on the title long enough when scrolling between albums. But I guess it is a Hebrew interface bug and someone must’ve complained about it already.

So, back to the problem - in English interface, me wants Hebrew titles to appear correctly, and apparently, I can’t have it.
