formatting the sansa fuze

I never formatted my unit when I got it, just loaded it with music. So far no problem Is the formatting necessary, and what are the consequences if I use it as is (unformatted).

 Don’t format the player unless you are having a problem with it. Formatting deletes everything stored on it.
